The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were held on Monday night, and Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, a three-time Grammy winner, took home the award for best competitive programme.
Lizzo, 34, who was overcome with emotion as she took the Emmy, is halfway to being an EGOT, which stands for having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Geena Davis specifically acknowledged Lizzo’s victory when she collected the Governors Award later in Monday night’s ceremony.

The show was inspired by Lizzo’s frustration with the lack of diversity in the dancer auditions, she said to PEOPLE in March.
She remarked, “They were lovely individuals and amazing dancers, but they simply didn’t look like me.”
The “Truth Hurts” singer claimed that in order to alleviate her irritation, she made the decision to do it herself. She held an open casting call so that she could choose the ladies who would perform beside her and ensure that they resembled her.
