She debuted her first rock song while wearing the outfit, teasing her impending rock album!
Dolly Parton recently withdrew her own Rock & Roll Hall of Fame candidacy, claiming that as a country music icon, she hadn’t “earned that privilege.” However, the “Jolene” singer eventually changed her mind, and over the weekend, she joined bands like AC/DC and Bon Jovi during her ceremonial induction, where she donned head-to-toe leather, the traditional rock look.
The skintight, glittering bodysuit was decked out in Parton’s signature glitz, with crystal buckles over the bell bottoms and crimson bejewelled shoulders (with a bedazzled electric guitar to match). However, the attire simply marked the beginning of her rock image.
A magnificent section of the event was devoted exclusively to the celebrity, and it included rock versions of her songs performed by Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran, Pink, Brandi Carlisle, and others, as well as a duet with Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.
Many of you are probably aware that, at the time they announced they would induct me into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I didn’t feel like I had done enough to merit it. And I didn’t realise that it was about a bit more than that at the time,” she remarked. But to be here today makes me feel so honoured and proud.
My husband of 56 years is a tremendous rock lover, so if I’m going to be in [it], I’m going to have to record a rock album, she explained. And he constantly plays louder music throughout the entire home. He has consistently urged me to record a rock album. I gave it some thought, but timing is everything. And when everything was brought up, I reasoned that since I would be performing in the [hall], I should create a song for tonight that would serve as a sort of confessional about how I felt.
According to Variety, HBO will show the ceremony’s highlights on November 19. We’ll simply have to wait patiently for Dolly’s next update to learn more about the rock album.
