Olivia Rodrigo is promising new music precisely two years after the release of “Drivers License,” her breakthrough track. The Grammy-winning singer posted a video of herself and Dan Nigro, the producer of her debut album, “Sour,” playing around on a piano, on her Instagram Stories on January 8. She wrote as the caption, “I’m eager to show you the new tunes I’m working on. I want to thank you for everything.” Rodrigo didn’t provide any other information, but this isn’t the first time she’s hinted at upcoming content.
In an earlier interview with Billboard, the publication’s 2022 woman of the year recipient announced that her sophomore album, which would feature Nigro’s production, is on the way. She also stated that she had already chosen a title for the upcoming project. Although there were no further updates, Rodrigo assured her followers that new music was still on the way in a special Spotify Wrapped video message in November 2022.
“Hello, this is Olivia. I just wanted to express my gratitude for listening to my songs this year “According to Billboard, she remarked. “I am extremely grateful and eager for the upcoming year and all the fresh new things and songs that 2023 will bring. Therefore, I’m sending you so much love and want to say thank you one more. Bye!”
Rodrigo has already made history in the music industry with just one record under her belt. The 19-year-old singer won awards at the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards last year for her number-one “Sour” album. “Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film),” a reflective documentary she also made available on Disney+, received a commendation at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
It’s obvious that Rodrigo has a lot more in store for her followers, and they can’t wait to hear what she’s been working on in the studio. Hopefully she’ll make a statement about her new song (or her next album) as soon as possible.
