radical acceptance of oneself

The music is seductive; it makes you feel tingles down your spine, dominates your thoughts, and compels you to start tapping your feet. It offers a little getaway, enticing you to wander off and discover a brighter, more vibrant version of yourself. Rêve, a singer-songwriter from Montreal, creates ethereal melodies that are influenced by ’90s house and ’00s pop and R&B. Rêve, after all, means dream. Rêve explains that he wanted to pick a moniker that would pay homage to his homeland of Montreal while also capturing the mood and mindset he wanted listeners to experience.
Rêve, whose real name is Briannah Donolo, follows her own rhythm. “A sound portrayal of coming of age, sexual emancipation and celebration, and radical self-acceptance,” is how she characterises her artistic endeavours. The 26-year-old musician narrates a tale with each song using what she describes as a “really romantic lens.” This overly sentimentalised account of her experiences reflects her songwriting style. “In my opinion, having the appropriate viewpoint is what leads to poetry and artistic talent. Many of my lyrics are inspired by actual discussions and chance encounters, ” the singer claims. With her most recent song, Whitney, which was influenced by Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman,” Rêve recognises the complex nature of women and encourages people to embrace all facets of their identities, even the more controversial ones.
Rêve exudes confidence in both her vibrant melodies and her commanding, powerful voice. But because she is a woman in the music business, she occasionally loses confidence when she receives a rejection. Unapologetically producing and supporting art that is true to you is what she means by the phrase “to create.” Because of the inescapable possibility of rejection and criticism from both the general public and those closest to you, it may occasionally be frightening. This doesn’t stop her from producing; on the contrary, it inspires her to go further into the unabashed aspects of herself.
Rêve asks her close friends and family for advice and support. She adds, “I’m also empowered by the folks in my carefully selected musical circle throughout the years. I’m thankful and fortunate to work with so many people who share my beliefs, are like-minded, and support, elevate, and magnify my creativity.
The chart-topping single “Ctrl + Alt + Del” by Rêve just received a Platinum certification, less than eight months after its release. Any artist values recognition from the industry, but Rêve is most appreciative of the connections she has made with her followers. “I can’t wait to keep performing and interacting with people from all around the world. The most unique aspect of the entire experience, according to her, is that. It’s one thing to write the music, but it’s genuinely amazing to meet and sing along with the people it’s reached and, hopefully, impacted.
Rêve makes a suggestion that a new album will be released the next year and that it will be a lengthy examination of vulnerability in which she shares aspects of herself that she hasn’t previously shared. It is only reasonable to believe that she will continue to express herself via songs that are danceable, relatable, and oh-so-dreamy.
