Laganja Estranja, a multihyphenate artist, stopped me to discuss terpenes that squelch the appetites, cannabis beverages for keeping high on the move, and how taking hormone replacement therapy has affected her relationship with edibles.

Laganja Estranja is undoubtedly the most well-known drag performer that supports marijuana legalisation. Laganja is a multi-hyphenate performer who rose to fame after appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She is now one of the most well-known marijuana celebrities and an outspoken supporter of our favourite weed.

Laganja has been featured on the covers of New York Magazine and Dope, performed alongside Jennifer Lopez, appeared on So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Got Talent, and has recorded a lot of weedified tunes that get the party started. A hazy classic, “Hot Box” in particular, with the catchy words, “Ganja goes in when she’s smokin’ on that contraband… Oh, I guess I’ll take another blow once more.

A new EP called Daily Basis, a feature film in which she co-stars with Alaska Thunderfuck that will shortly premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, and a new web series called Open to It are just a few of the significant projects the actress and dancer is working on. Additionally, she sells some brand-new accessories on her website, like this really sexy grinder.

Like many 420 personalities, Laganja Estranja is a laid-back person who kindly gave Cash Only a call to ask about her marijuana preferences. The legend talks about her favourite terpenes that keep her from getting the munchies, consuming marijuana drinks on the fly, and why she always listens to female rappers from the ’90s when she’s extremely stoned in the video below.
Spanish Laganja It was interesting. I was at P-town, a bizarrely little homosexual community in Massachusetts. The Pilgrim House is where I was. It was like a stoned variety show when we performed a 4/20 show with a number of comedians and a comic duo group.

What marijuana strain is now your favourite, and how do you prefer to use it?

Tropicanna Cookies from Autumn Brands is the cannabis kind I now prefer. It has an excellent limonene profile, which is mostly what I seek for in marijuana. Pre-rolls are my preferred method of smoking because I’m lazy. I need it to be prepared so I can just fire it!

I think the indica/sativa binary gets discussed the most, so I’m pleased you brought up a terpene you appreciate. Why do you enjoy limonene so much?

I was informed two or three years ago that we would eventually start classifying marijuana by the terpene because terpenes have a greater impact on your experience than simply “indica” or “sativa” do. I am fortunate to work in the industry and receive really proper education more quickly than most of the general public. Once I discovered limonene, I essentially stayed with it. It benefits me much, especially in the way that it lessens my worry and despair. It truly helps to calm my mood, in my opinion.

But I’ve also discovered that limonene strains may help me reduce my hunger during the day, and I search for that. However, while I’m working, it’s difficult for me to eat and then go jump around on stage. Of course, once I go home, I want to plunge into some snacks and eat the whole house down. It’s crucial that I take medication that both stabilises me and keeps me afloat till I can properly eat. Although there isn’t a real “diet cannabis,” there are some strains that don’t make you hungry. As much as I enjoy getting the munchies, I prefer a strain that has a cigarette-like effect during the day.
Yes, I do enjoy using my own grinder, which is accessible at www.laganjaestranja.com. I enjoy dabbing; I would absolutely describe myself as a dab head. Since I started taking hormones and going through my transition, I’ve sort of gotten away from dabbing since they’re currently a touch too potent when combined with the hormone replacement medication I’m receiving. But I do enjoy dabs, crystals, and sauce, and among of my current favourite producers of those things include Cali Stripe, who I adore. They are excellent dabs.

This is off-topic, but years ago I edited a long-form piece for Merry Jane on how hormone replacement treatment and transitioning might alter your body’s preferences for marijuana. Have you ever observed that?

For certainly, yes. Even at night, I would smoke sativas instead of indicas. However, after I started transitioning, I found that indicas were beginning to dominate my marijuana consumption. They assist me in maintaining my composure all night.

Additionally, I’m eating more edibles, which I’ve never really enjoyed because they make me tired. However, because of my hectic schedule at the moment and the odd hours I have to go to bed, I can say with certainty that I have been enjoying edibles. I enjoy Wonder; their THC-infused beverages are excellent. And I enjoy CANN, which just released a fantastic new flavour called Blue Raspberry. Although it has rhubarb instead of blue raspberry taste, I’m still completely smitten with it. CANN produces beverages with 5-10mg of THC, which have a milder impact but I still adore the flavour. Wonder has a “High Vibe” version with 20mg of THC, which is undoubtedly what I prefer.
What kind of thing do you enjoy doing when you’re stoned?

I’m quite straightforward, and I like a good Netflix binge. I seldom have time to do that, so I can easily spend the entire day on my sofa. I’ll watch frightening movies, munch, smoke, and relax. One of my favourite activities is that. I also enjoy taking walks near the sea and visiting to the beach. This trek in Topanga and Malibu along the shore is my favourite. The lake is beautiful and visible. Additionally, I frequently visit Runyan because it is close to my home. Even if it may not be the most attractive, it’s really common here and many people do it. Both the trek and the exercise are excellent. Additionally, I’d suggest going on some pretty great treks along the Hollywood sign. When I go and a native shows me their favourite hiking place, I think it could be my favourite kind of trip. I’ve been on some incredible walks in Hawaii that were breathtaking and led to waterfalls. Additionally, I have a girlfriend who resides in Carmel Valley, where virtually every trek is breathtaking.

Do you have any suggestions for movies to watch while high?

I’m watching The Girl From Plainville right now. That, I believe, is the title. Because I use marijuana, I can’t recall many titles. It’s disappointing that several of my favourite series have just come to an end. I was observing Drop Out, Uber Recs, and WeCrash. All three were about people who lied to rise to the top and had a similar tone. The soon-to-be-released final season of Ozark is another thing I’m eagerly anticipating. I could easily recommend a million TV shows since I adore television. I’m a complete TV geek. Even comedies like Life and Death and Somebody Somewhere, which are darker than most comedies, appeal to me. I prefer to transport myself into another mood and another universe when I watch entertainment since my job is so enjoyable and encouraging.
Who comprises the dream rotation of blunts?

Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg, Kasey Musgraves, and Martha Stewart. It’s a close-knit group of people. Meryl Streep was my first choice, but I don’t believe she uses marijuana.

What work-related plans do you have for the future?

?

I’ll shortly be releasing an EP called Daily Basis with new songs on it. It should be pretty exciting because I have a movie called God Save the Queen coming out in which I co-star with Alaska Thunderfuck from Rupaul’s Drag Race. We anticipate seeing it in cinemas. First, it will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival. Then there’s the Open to It web series, which I’m a part of. We’ve just released the first few episodes, and we’ll be filming more later this year. Also, keep a watch out for me growing my paraphernalia business.
